Turkey Meatballs
This meatball recipe is pretty simple and probably very similar to all the other turkey meatballs out there, but I made a dish involving them, so I wanted to provide the recipe I use.
You can also use this same recipe to make meatballs with any other ground meat. I add the same stuff regardless of the type of meat I’m using. The only time I’ll switch it up is when I make an asian inspired meat ball, in which I’ll usually add carrots, mushrooms, soy sauce and other ingredients. This is just a traditional Italian style meatball.
Make 20 1.5 inch Meatballs
Ingredients
1.3 lbs ground turkey
1 egg
2 T milk
1/2 c bread crumbs
2 T parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 t parsley
2 fresh basil leaves, chopped
salt & pepper to taste
olive oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 425F.
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl (get those hands dirty, it really works best).
Roll your mixture into about 1.5 inch size balls and place them on a baking sheet drizzled with olive oil. Roll the balls around in the oil so they get coated. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Notes
Gluten-free: This recipe in gluten-free if you use panko breadcrumbs (which i did).
Dairy-free: This recipe is dairy-free if you use a dairy-free milk (I used oat milk) and cheese. You could also leave the cheese and milk out all-together, but it will make your balls a bid more dense.
Ground Meat: Try this recipe with any ground meat such as beef, pork, chicken or a mixture of a few different types.
Bread Crumbs: Use whatever breads crumbs you have. I used plain panko. If your bread crumbs are seasoned, consider using less or leaving our the parsley. However I would still add fresh basil.
Fresh Basil: You can use a teaspoon of dried basil if you’d like to substitute the fresh.
