Honest Review of Every Plate

every-plate.jpeg

In the past, I’ve tried a few meal kit boxes such as Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and Martha Stuart’s Martha Marley & Spoon which I’ve reviewed here. Today we are here to talk about Every Plate.

Price

I got a code to get my box for free, but normally the prices are:

  • Dinner for 2 - 3 times a week, costs $38.93 per week.

  • Dinner for 2 - 4 times a week, costs $48.91 per week.

  • Dinner for 2 - 5 times a week, costs $58.89 per week.

  • Dinner for 4 - 3 times a week, costs $68.87 per week.

Compared to other companies such as Hello Fresh a dinner for 2 - 3 times a week would be $53.94. From what I’ve seen out there, this box is the most affordable one.

Meal Options

When it came to meal options, there were 12 regular meals and two premium meals to chose from. Three of these were veggie options. You also had the option of adding extra protein for $2.99-5.99 per serving depending on the protein.

For my personal preference and diet, the meal options weren’t my favorite. I like typically like to have a protein, carb and veggie element to call my meals and some of them only included two of those elements. Also the fish options are always premium and cost extra.

Although I only personally ordered a single box, my boyfriend ordered two the previous couple weeks. Therefore I was able to sus out the variety of options. What I realized is that a lot of the recipes provided are pretty similar to each other week by week. Not exactly the same, but similar enough where it might get boring quick.

Are the Meals Easy to Make?

The meals were pretty simple to make because the directions were thorough and there wasn’t a ton of prep needed. They took anywhere from 25-45 minutes to make depending on the meal. If you’re wanting to learn how cook I think that the techniques used in these recipes are great starting points.

Do the Meals Taste Good?

The meals I chose were Garlic Rosemary Chicken, Farmers Market Penne, Sriracha Pork Stir-Fry and Pork Katzu Meatballs. Overall there wasn’t a meal I didn’t like the taste of. The one I liked enough to make again is the Pork Katzu Meatballs. My least favorite meal was the penne. It was a little plain in flavor, but I did doctor it up and enjoy it.

Would I order Every Plate Again?

Yes. Although this meal kit was not my favorite out of the bunch I’ve had, if I’m ever looking for a cheap option to take care of meals for the week, I think I would choose to order Every Plate. If I didn’t care about budget, I would still go for the Martha Marley & Spoon meal kit as its still my favorite.

Conclusion

This box is for: Someone who is looking for a cost effective meal kit box with traditional recipes. As well as someone who is wanting to learn how to cook or get inspiration for new meals.

This box is not for: Someone who like variety in their meals, is specifically looking for healthier options and enjoys eating fish.
