Carne Asada
Carne Asada is a Mexican marinaded steak popularly used for tacos or eaten as-is with rice and beans. With Cinco de Mayo coming up I figured it was a great time to finally share my Carne Asada marinade recipe.
Like I said, this is great for tacos, which is what I usually use it for. Try it out on a flour or corn tortilla with my Mexican Chimichurri, red onion, avocado, plain greek yogurt and tajin (as I did below). You can also try topping with a slaw, queso fresco, sour cream, salsa, tomatoes or anything else you like.
Carnes Asada is best grilled, but if you don’t access to a grill, you can cook it in the oven. See cooking instructions for details. I used the grill function on my Ninja Foodi.
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
Flank Steak (mine was a little under 2 lbs)
1/2 orange, juice
1 lime, juice
1 lemon, juice
1 T Olive Oil
1 t garlic powder
1 t onion powder
1 t cumin
1 t chili powder
1 t cayenne powder
1/2 t oregano
2 T fresh cilantro, finely chopped
Directions
In a bag or container mix all ingredients together and coat your steak with the marinade.
Let it sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours (I did mine for 2 days). Flip the bag or container over halfway to make sure both sides get even flavor.
