Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

1 healthy serving

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c old-fashioned oats

  • 1 c water

  • 1/4 t vanilla extract

  • 1/2 t cinnamon

  • 1 T ground flax seed

  • 1 t packed brown sugar

  • 1/3 c diced apples

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients and cook on stove for 5 minutes or in the microwave for 2 minutes.

  2. Give the oatmeal a few minutes cool and thicken before eating.

Notes:

Gluten-free: This is gluten-free as long as the oats you buy are gluten-free.

Dairy-free: This recipe is dairy-free.

Water: You can use milk instead of water if you'd like a creamier consistency or wish to add more protein to your meal.

Ground Flax Seed: It's not necessary, but it’s a healthy fat, adds fiber and includes protein that makes the oatmeal a lot more filling.

Brown Sugar: Brown sugar can be substituted for pure maple syrup as a healthier alternative.

Meal Prep:

Place all ingredients in a microwave safe container or jar. Store in fridge until ready to heat and eat. Make as many containers up for however many days you are prepping for.
